A Note About Shorts

day4One of the great things about working on short stories is that it allows you to write a variety of stories and go through a variety of different genre’s if you so choose. There’s a lot of stories that I’ve created over the years some of which I’d like to get back to again, even if only in a small way at present, and writing shorts can allow me to do that.

Early on in creating this website it was my intention to do things differently. I didn’t want it to simply be a blog as the previous site was, instead I wanted it to showcase more of my writing talents. It’s easy to say you’re a writer or that you’re writing things, without ever showing it, and for the better part of the last decade that’s what I’ve been doing with little exception. In 2017 I’ve wanted to change all of that and not only on this site but in the real world as well. What that means is complex, but what it boils down to is my intention to work on publishing short stories in places that aren’t here.

So what does that mean for my short stories on the site going forward? While I would very much love to be able to publish stories on both, a lot of places that would publish shorts would prefer an exclusivity for a time, which occasionally does not apply to personal sites, but it will be something that I’ll have to research more going forward. I’m going to do my best to make sure that I keep my planned promise to publish at least one short story a month on the site. I will of course continue my blogs and essays as always, and I’d like to say that I’m excited and working on confidence in moving to this next venture.
